Recently I had a student say, "My thoughts race faster than I can write them down. So I get frustrated and stop writing."
My answer: "Don't stop."
I think it’s a common occurrence for the thoughts to race faster than the pen. And I think that you should keep writing Morning Pages. What you do when you deliberately "stick with it" is that more and more detail will come to you-- and more and more solace. I think when we start writing and our thoughts start racing, we can use the Q and A technique-- asking the pages “what’s the bottom line?” and listening for the answer.
