Pain as Energy

its_never_too_late_cover_480The truth is that turning our pain into energy for good can be one of the great assets of age. We can draw on stores of experience— and heal our wounds— as we work to create the life we want.

Task: Pain as Energy
Pain does use our energy, but we can consciously channel it toward productive and positive action if we are willing to look at our options with fresh eyes. Writing very quickly, so as not to censor yourself, fill in the following:

The truth is, I’m frustrated by...
The truth is, I’m frustrated by...
The truth is, I’m frustrated by...
The truth is, I’m frustrated by...
The truth is, I’m frustrated by...

Now, take the energy you have just uncovered and use it toward a creative act.

  1. Oh Julia
    You are always and ever
    an amazing being
    in the world.
    And for me, your messages
    continue to
land in my eyes and heart
    at just the right
    synchronous
    moment.
    Thank you.

My pain is so great at times it takes all my energy. A mourning for time lost. It’s breathtaking.

  3. I did The Artists Way book years ago and now after another life changing event I kept hearing the words ‘begin again’. I was about to dig out my old copy when I just happened to look you up and there I found “It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again”. Talk about synchronicity. It is the perfect book at the right time. I do wish that there was a chat board for others who are going thru the book to share experiences – and frustrations, like the days when I don’t want to get out of bed because if I do I will have to do Morning Pages LOL. Thanks for this new book Julia.
