The Silver Lining

"Gain disguised as loss” is a potent artist’s tool. To acquire it, simply, brutally, ask: “How can this loss serve me? Where does it point my work?”

The answers will surprise and liberate you. The trick is to metabolize pain as energy. The key to doing that is to know, to trust, and to act as if a silver lining exists if you are only willing to look at the work differently or to walk through a different door, one that you may have balked at.

  1. This is exactly what I need right now. Literally, this post will turn my day, and week, and etc around.
I have been doing Artist’s Way for 2 weeks and almost immediately the life hailstorm began…. On all fronts of my life. You say, in the book, that that might happen. I didn’t believe it then. I do now. So I need this kind of guidance to remember that I don’t have to let it bury me.
Blah blah, I know. But, thank you.
